The High Point University men's soccer team (9-5-0, 5-0-0 Big South) is set to play its second ACC in-state opponent of the season when it travels to Duke on Tuesday night (Oct. 22).
 
Matchup History
  • The Panthers head into Tuesday's matchup with an 8-13-2 mark in the all-time series with Duke in 23 matches. HPU got the best of the then No. 5-ranked Blue Devils last season, earning a 1-0 victory in Durham. Ilias Kosmidis tallied in the lone goal of the game in the 26th minute on a PK.
  • High Point's win last season was the highest ranked win in program history since joining NCAA DI in 1999 and the first victory over Duke since 1941.
 
Panther Notes
  • HPU is coming off of a 2-0 win over Longwood last Saturday in Farmville, Va. The victory was the Panthers third straight and sixth out of the last seven, with the lone loss coming at No. 6-ranked Wake Forest (Tuesday, Oct. 8).
  • High Point is 5-0 in conference play, being one of two teams in the Big South to be undefeated amongst conference foes alongside Campbell (6-0).
  • Redshirt senior goaltender Keegan Meyer was named Big South player of the week after earning two wins last week, including his sixth clean sheet of the season. Meyer added to his program-record for career shutouts with 26 to his name.
  • After Saturday's victory, the current senior class became the winningest class (44 wins) in program history (NCAA DI era), passing the 2018 class.
  • Freshman defenseman Karson Kendall returned to the squad on Saturday after an international call-up with the U.S. Virgin Islands National Team for their CONCACAF Nationals League games last week.
 
Across the Bench
  • Duke heads into Tuesday's contest with an overall record of 6-5-2 with a 2-3-1 mark in conference play.
  • The Blue Devils are coming off of a 0-0 (2OT) draw with NC State last Friday, while dropping its last two contests before on the road at Notre Dame (1-0) and Elon (3-2).
  • Daniele Proch leads Duke with 10 goals and 23 points, while Max Moser leads the team with four assists with six points.
  • Will Pulisic has appeared in every contest for the Blue Devils in net, sporting a 1.26 goals against average with a .757 save percentage.
