HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men's soccer team played to a draw with non-conference opponent and Triad rival UNC Greensboro on Tuesday night at Vert Stadium, 1-1.
It was the first-ever draw in the Triad Derby as the Panthers continue their unbeaten streak on home turf to 18 games (15-0-3), dating back to Nov. 16, 2024.
The Panthers surrendered a goal early but
Prosper Adagani scored the Panthers' lone goal in the 25th minute after
Noah Behrmann did what he does best: set up his teammate with an incredible assist for the equalizer and final score of the match. The result continues its unbeaten match streak of nine games, marking the fourth-longest active streak in Division I and tying the fourth-longest streak in program history.

Head Coach Zach Haines: "We are pleased with the performance. The level of the performance was very high today, and that's what you want to see at this stage in the season against a good team, and in a rivalry game. We are disappointed with the result. We felt like we were a good value for more because we had long stretches of dominance in the game, but we also let our guard down in the game and conceded, and they took advantage of it well, so we put ourselves behind the eight ball a bit, but the rest of the game we were very good."
HPU saw an early deficit after UNCG scored a goal in the third minute to take a 1-0 advantage. The Panthers had a near equalizer in the 20th minute after
Noah Behrmann sent a cross to
Alfred Baafi in the penalty box with his left-footed strike sailing just high of the net.
The Panthers found the back of the net in the 25th minute to tie the score at 1-1.
Ryan Behrmann sent the ball across the far side of the field to
Noah Behrmann, who read the field before crossing the ball into the box to the running head of Adagani for his eighth goal of the season and third in the last two games.
Adagani's eight goals are the second-most on the team and a collegiate career-high. The assist from
Noah Behrmann marks his team-high and career-best 10th of the season, which places him second in Division I.
After 45 minutes of play, the score was tied, 1-1. The Panthers recorded seven shots, one attempt on goal and earned three corner kicks, while holding UNCG to one shot, one attempt on goal and one corner kick in the first half.
In the 69th minute, it looked as if HPU had broken through with a go-ahead score after two incredible shots on goal. It started with
Anthony Ramirez sending a through ball to
Daniel Lugo, who made a move and crossed the ball inside to Baafi as his attempt nailed the left goalpost, and the follow-through from Adagani was blocked by the goalie as the Panthers remained deadlocked at 1-1 with UNCG.
Neither side could notch a goal in the final 21 minutes as the game finished in a 1-1 draw, with HPU improving to 5-3-1 against UNCG at home and 9-9-1 overall.
The Panthers finished with 15 total shots, four shots on goal and earned four corner kicks.
Ryan Behrmann led the way with four shots and one on target. Adagani and Lugo each had three total shots apiece. HPU was strong defensively, only allowing three total shots, two shots on goal and two corner kicks.
