HIGH POINT, N.C.— With a pair of back-to-back wins to start off the conference season, High Point University men's soccer takes a break from Big South play this Tuesday, hosting Appalachian State at 7 p.m. High Point is off to one of its best starts since joining Division I this year, posting a record of 6-1. 2012's squad is the only Panthers team to provide a more successful beginning to a season, starting the year on a nine-match win streak.
The Panthers step into their midweek contest after a shutout defeat of Gardner-Webb on Saturday, where senior defender
Johnny Fenwick picked up the fourth goal of his career, on what proved to be the game-winner. High Point has opened its Big South schedule with a pair of wins against the Bulldogs and USC Upstate, and is currently outscoring conference opponents by a total of 5-1.Â
Appalachian State is coming off a recent win against against UNCG, securing its third shutout victory of 2018 by a final score of 1-0. The Mountaineers record reflects only one loss on the year, after falling to ETSUÂ on the road two weeks ago, the same program the Panthers defeated 3-2 in overtime at the end of August.Â

On the Panthers
• After combining for a total of nine individual points against USC Upstate, forwards
Ilias Kosmidis (12) and
Siggi Benonysson (11) are the top-two point scorers in the Big South this year
• Kosmidis' five points against the Spartans ties the most an individual in the Big South has accrued in a game this year, the junior scored a brace for the second time this season, while picking up a helper on a Benonysson tally
• Goalkeeper
Keegan Meyer secured his second clean sheet of the year, and the 15th of his career, against Gardner-Webb. He currently sits first in save percentage against Big South opponents (.889) and is tied for second in goals against average (0.50)
• High Point's 1.12 goals allowed per game is the top mark in the conference this year, while the team's 2.29 goals scored per game is tied for 13th in all of Division I men's soccer

On the Mountaineers
• App State's offense ranks first in the Sun Belt concerning shots (105) and shots on goal (48), while the side's defense allows just a 0.68 goals against average
• Freshman forward Camden Holbrook leads the Mountaineers with five goals on the year, including a hat trick he scored in his first-ever appearance against Jacksonville
• Senior keeper Jack Chasteen has played every minute for App State this season, recording three clean sheets and 19 saves

• HPU is 3-13-1 against the Mountaineers all-time, but is facing App State in the regular season for just the second time in the past decade
