High Point, N.C. – The High Point University volleyball team defeated Gardner-Webb, 25-14, 25-22 and 25-15, Friday, Sept. 21, to extend their regular-season conference-winning streak to 20 matches tonight at the Millis Center.

"It's always good to get a win," HPU head coach Ryan Meek said. "Conference wins are hard to come by. It was our first match at home this season, so it was great to come out with a lot of energy and set the tone really fast. I felt like there was a little slip in our play in the second set, but I was really happy to see us come back and regroup in the third set and cruise to a win."

The Panthers (6-7, 2-0) controlled all aspects of the game recording 42 kills with a .255 attack percentage to the Runnin' Bulldogs' (5-9, 0-2) 26 kills and .063 attack percentage. High Point logged 44 digs, while Gardner-Webb notched 35.

"Getting a win at Millis this season feels like it has been a long time coming," senior Molly Livingston said.  "We've had a really awesome preseason, but it has all been on the road, so it was very nice to play at home today. There was a bunch of energy in the crowd. Everyone really brought their A-game in the stands."

Livingston led the way for HPU with 13 kills and a .478 attack percentage, while seniors Jordan Hefner and Katie Tylman added seven kills each. Hefner also finished with a match high .600 attack percentage. Sophomore Abby Bottomley was a force defensively with 17 digs.

The Purple & White jumped out to an early 13-3 lead in the first set and never looked back taking the set 25-14.

High Point took an early 15-8 lead in the second, but GWU fought back and cut the lead to two at 22-20. Livingston added two of her 13 kill, while Hefner added one of her seven in the final three points to finish the set 25-20.

HPU controlled the third set from the beginning opening with a 6-1 lead and kept control throughout finishing the sweep with a 25-15 win.

Freshman Kylee Garrison led the offensive attack for GWU logging 13 kills.

Up next, the Panthers will host Winthrop Saturday, Sept. 22 as they attempt to extend their regular-season conference-winning streak to 21 matches.
