College Soccer News Release
HIGH POINT, N.C. -Â High Point University men's soccer captain
Johnny Fenwick earned his second All-America honor of the postseason this Monday, after earning third-team nods from College Soccer News. The senior defender was recently named a Second-Team All-American by United Soccer Coaches earlier in the month, and finishes his time at HPU as the most decorated player in Panthers soccer history. Â
Helping the Panthers to their first ever appearance in the NCAA Championship tournament, Fenwick captained the most successful HPU squad in Division I history in 2018, winning a second straight Big South regular season title, setting a program record in regular season win percentage (.844) and leading his side to as high as 12th in the national weekly polls. Fenwick and his fellow seniors finish their time at High Point as the only team to reach the NCAA tournament while tying the program record for most Big South wins by a senior class (22).
Only 10 Division I defenders were listed to this year's three CSN All-American squads, including two Big Ten honorees, a pair of ACC designations and a single Pac 12 selection. Fenwick was just the second Panther to ever earn All-America honors when he was selected in early December, and this Monday's distinction makes him the first in HPU history to receive that recognition from multiple institutions.Â
