HIGH POINT, N.C.— This Tuesday highlights a top-25 clash between the two best teams in the triad, as No. 23 High Point University men's soccer travels north to face No. 1 Wake Forest in Winston-Salem.
The Panthers get back to non-conference play riding a six-match win streak, with the side's last loss coming over a month ago. HPU had a flair for the dramatic the past week after claiming back-to-back double-overtime wins against UNC Asheville and Longwood, and has outscored its opponents 12-3 over its current win streak. Just a win away from its best start in Division I program history, High Point hopes that a positive decision against Wake will help boost its current national rankings, coming in at No. 23 in the most recent College Soccer News poll.Â
The Demon Deacons enter the midweek holding onto a first-place ranking in the most recent United Soccer Coaches poll, despite taking a loss to Syracuse on the road this past Saturday. The Orangemen's victory puts an end to one of the longest win streaks in the nation (11), while ending the longest running road streak (9) in Division I men's soccer. Wake Forest's loss is its first in conference-play since September 30th of 2016, as the program has recorded three straight years of 15-plus victories.
