HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point volleyball team defeated Campbell 3-0, 25-13, 25-21 and 25-14, Tuesday, Oct. 2 in the Millis Center.

"I thought we did a fantastic job coming out and setting the tone with our serving," head coach
Ryan Meek said. "We were able to affect what Campbell was able to run and set up our block and get transition opportunities. I was happy to see us stay poised, even when Campbell went on a run in the second set, and work our way back into the set.
Jenna Smith's serving run at the end of the third set was such a great way to end the match."

High Point (8-8, 4-1) controlled the play at the net with a hitting percentage of .274 to the Camels' (5-10, 3-2) -.051. The Panthers also logged eight blocks to Campbell's four. Freshman
Madison Smith led the HPU in kills with 12 and hitting percentage at .556. Seniors
Abby Broadstreet and
Katie Tylman added seven and six kills, respectively. Freshman
Mackenzi Thornburg helped HPU lead in assists 38-19 as she added a game-high 26.

In the first set, High Point jumped out to a 9-6 lead before going on a 10-1 run to stretch the lead to 19-7. The Purple & White finished the set 25-13. Tylman added three kills, while Senior
Molly Livingston added three of her own in the set. HPU had a ten-kill margin (14-4) over Campbell in the set.

Campbell led 13-8 early in the second set before High Point went on a 13-2 run to take a 21-15 lead. HPU won the set 25-21.
Madison Smith controlled the second set logging eight of her 12 kills on a .700 hitting percentage.

High Point led 15-12 in the third set and then went on an 8-0 run to stretch the lead to 23-12. The Panthers took the set 25-14.
Jenna Smith recorded four service aces during the run. Thornburg logged seven of her assists in the set.

Up Next, HPU will travel to South Carolina to take on Presbyterian and Charleston Southern Friday and Saturday, Oct. 5-6.
