CLINTON, S.C. – The High Point University volleyball team defeated Presbyterian 3-0, 27-25, 25-22 and 31-29, Friday, Oct. 5, in Clinton, S.C.
"This was a very big match for us to see where we were as a program and in the league race," head coach
Ryan Meek said. "In the last seven days, we have played the other top three teams in the league race and been able to come away with sweeps in all three, twice on the road. Tonight was a battle the whole way through and every time we needed to make a play someone stepped up and made it. I can see our mental toughness continuing to develop, and that's what we are going to need as the season continues. Now, we need to rest and recover and get ready for another Big South match on the road against Charleston Southern, who beat Presbyterian in 5 on Tuesday."
High Point (9-8, 5-1) out hit Presbyterian (6-10, 4-2) .269-.203 and logged 52 kills to the Blue Hose's 37. Senior
Abby Broadstreet led the Panthers with a match-high 10 kills. Seniors

Jordan Hefner and freshman
Madison Smith each added nine kills, with Hefner leading the team with a .438 hitting percentage. HPU also logged 56 digs to Presbyterian's 39.
High Point fell behind 23-17, before going on a 6-0 run to tie the first set. The Panthers took the set 27-25. As a team, High Point posted 17 kills to Presbyterian's 10. Seniors

Abby Broadstreet led the way for HPU logging four kills apiece.
The Panthers led 11-10 in the second set then went on a 7-0 run to take an 18-10 lead. The Blue Hose fought back to cut the score to 24-22, before HPU finished the set 25-22. Freshman
Madison Smith led the way for the Purple & White with five kills, while Tylman added four on a .667 hitting percentage. Sophomore
Abby Bottomley recorded seven of her team-high 13 digs in the second set.
The third set was even through 36 points, before HPU went on a 4-0 run to take a 22-18. The Blue Hose fought back to tie the set at 23. The Purple & White took the set 31-29. Hefner recorded all nine of her kills in the third with a .900 hitting percentage.
Up next, the Panthers will continue conference play as they travel to Charleston, S.C. to play Charleston Southern on Saturday, Oct. 6.
