High Point Notes:
• The Panthers suffered their first defeat of the season last Friday at Duke, 3-2 in overtime. HPU picked up a pair of second half goals from Jonathan Bolanos and Connor Cesar to moved ahead of the now-nationally ranked Blue Devils.
• Duke tied the game in the 88th minute before winning it in the 96th minute. HPU was denied in its initial opportunity to defeat an ACC team for the third straight season. The Panthers will have a second chance against No. 2 Wake Forest on Sep. 19.
• Despite the setback, the Panthers have won or tied 29 of their last 37 games (20-8-9) dating back to 2015. Of the 37 matches, 26 have been decided by one goal or ended in a tie.
• HPU has seen all three of its games this year decided by one goal. The tight contests have been the norm under in three seasons under head coach EJ O'Keeffe, who is 12-8 in one-goal games. With the loss at Duke, the Panthers are now 3-3-11 in OT games during the last three seasons.
• Prior to Duke's two tallies in the final eight minutes Friday, HPU had allowed only two goals in the season's first 268 minutes. Overall, the Panthers have allowed just eight goals in their last 10 games dating back to last season (915:32).

Elon Notes:
• The Phoenix are 2-0-1 on the season after a 2-0 victory over Presbyterian on Saturday. Elon has yet to allow a goal in its three matches this year, tying Fordham (0-0) and defeating UCF (1-0).
• Freshman Ronni Mleczkovicz is the reigning CAA Rookie of the Week after notching two assists in the win over Presbyterian.
• The Phoenix have held their opponents to 29 shots thus far this year (9.67 per game). Only six of the shots have been on goal.
• Elon was 7-6-4 in 2016 and are now under the direction of former Radford coach Marc Reeves, who is in his first season. Reeves was the Big South Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2016.

Series Notes:
• HPU and Elon meet for the 52nd time in school history, by far the Panthers' most common opponent. The next closest Div. I opponent is Liberty (32 matchups, 13-15-4).
• Since joining Div. I in 1999, HPU has played Elon every year except for 2015. The Panthers are 6-7-4 head-to-head  in that time frame.
• High Point and Elon battled to a 1-1 draw last season at Vert Stadium. The Panthers outshot the Phoenix 23-12 and put eight shots on goal.
• Last year's contest featured 45 fouls and six yellow cards. HPU was whistled for 21 infarctions compared to Elon's 24.
