High Point Notes:
• HPU is coming off its second straight draw, 1-1, vs USC Upstate on Saturday night at Vert Stadium. Redshirt-sophomore
Hunter Allen tied the game with his first goal of the season in the 74th minute off a free kick from
Johnny Fenwick.
• Three of the Panthers' last four games have gone past regulation, something not uncommon in recent years. With the tie against USC Upstate, 19 of HPU's last 46 games under head coach
EJ O'Keeffe have needed OT. HPU holds a 3-3-13 record when extra time is needed.
• High Point has won or tied 30 of its last 40 games (20-9-11) dating back to 2015. Of the 40 matches, 28 have been decided by one goal or ended in a tie.
• HPU has seen five of its first six games this year decided by one goal or end in a tie. The tight contests have been the norm in three seasons under O'Keeffe, who is 12-8 in one-goal games.
• The Panthers have shown their scoring depth this season with their seven goals coming from five different players (plus an own goal). Redshirt-junior
Justen Shear is the only player with multiple goals, scoring the winner at UNCG and the tying goal against Davidson. The team's leader in shots,
Ryan Inman (14), has not yet scored.
Wake Forest Notes:
• No. 4 Wake Forest is 6-1-0 on the season following a 2-0 win over Pitt on Saturday night. The Deacs have already defeated two ranked teams this year in No. 8 Louisville and No. 12 Providence.
• Wake leads the nation in goals with 22 through its first seven matches. The Demon Deacons have scored multiple goals in all but one game, a 2-1 OT loss to Georgia State.
• Luis Argudo leads the team with five goals and is followed by Jon Bakero and Ema Twusami, who have scored four goals each.
• Bakero and Brandon Servania are tied for the NCAA lead with seven assists a piece. Wake leads the nation with 28 assists.
Series Notes:
• Despite being separated by just 25 miles, High Point and Wake Forest are meeting for the first time since 2003.
• High Point won the first two meetings between the schools in 1979 and 1980, but has gone 0-5-1 since. Wake Forest has won all four meetings in High Point's Div. I era (since 1999).
• HPU is 8-38-5 all-time against current members of the ACC. The Panthers have defeated an ACC opponent in each of the last two seasons (NC State, '16, 4-3 OT and Virginia Tech, '15, 2-1).
• The Panthers are 1-0-2 in its last three matchups with top 25 teams. HPU defeated #25 Radford 1-0 last season.
