HIGH POINT, N.C. - The High Point University men's soccer team welcomes USC Upstate on Saturday night for its lone contest at Vert Stadium in a 39-day stretch. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be streamed on the Big South Network.

High Point Notes:
• HPU is coming off a 1-1 draw with Davidson on Tuesday.
Justen Shear scored his second goal of the season in the 32nd minute to even the match.
Keegan Meyer and
Pat Fallon combined for three saves across 110 minutes.
• High Point has won or tied 29 of its last 39 games (20-9-10) dating back to 2015. Of the 39 matches, 27 have been decided by one goal or ended in a tie.
• HPU has seen four of its first five games this year decided by one goal or end in a tie. The tight contests have been the norm in three seasons under head coach
EJ O'Keeffe, who is 12-8 in one-goal games. With the tie at Davidson, the Panthers are now 3-3-12 in OT games during the last three seasons.
• The Panthers have shown their scoring depth this season with their six goals coming from four different players (plus an own goal). Last year's leading scorer,
Siggi Benonysson, has not registered a goal and has recorded just two shots in five games.
• Sophomore
Ryan Inman set a career-high with five shots in Tuesday's match at Davidson. Inman, who missed the match at Elon due to injury, was one of three players to play all 110 minutes (
Johnny Fenwick and
Ryeong Choi).
USC Upstate Notes:
• USC Upstate is 2-4-0 on the year after losing 4-0 at Winthrop on Wednesday. The Spartans saw a two-game winning streak snapped in the loss against the Eagles.
• Upstate has played three Big South opponents, losing to Winthrop and Presbyterian (3-1), while defeating Liberty (3-2).
• The Spartans have ceded multiple goals in five of their six matchups and have yet to pitch a shutout this year. Eight of the 14 goals allowed so far this year have come in the second half.
• Cam Philpot and JR Cozine lead the team with a pair of goals each. The two are tied for fourth in the A-Sun in scoring.
Series Notes:
• HPU and USC Upstate are meeting for the eighth time in school history and for the second straight year.
• High Point won at USC Upstate last year, 4-2. After falling behind 2-0 early in the second half, HPU scored four goals in a 21-minute span to rally for the win. All four goals were scored by players who are not on this year's team.
• The Spartans are visiting Vert Stadium for the first time since 2009. HPU won that match, 1-0, for its first win in the series.
• Upstate won the first five matchups between the schools, all occurring between 1983-1990.
