Throughout the summer, get to know more about the seniors of the 2017 High Point University women's soccer team.
Next up, midfielder
Lindsay Elsen from Lexington, Ky.
What is one piece of advice for the incoming players?
As I approach my senior year, I find myself wondering where time went. Just yesterday I remember taking the field for my first ever collegiate soccer game. Soon, I will taking the field for my last ever collegiate soccer game. My advice here is to never take a day for granted. Not even the 7 a.m. lifts, the summer workout packet or the late night bus rides. They are all memories that will make your 4 years at High Point the best of your life.
What has been your most memorable moment as an HPU soccer player?
My most memorable experience as an HPU Soccer player is definitely freshman year when we won the Big South title. I get chills thinking about the dog pile that I was under when we won in Penalty Kicks. That feeling…the feeling of ultimate victory, surrounded by your best friends and family, is a feeling that is unmatched.
Where is your favorite spot on High Point University's campus?
My favorite sport on High Point University's campus is the outside patio in the Learning Commons. Every now and then when I have some free time I watch the sunset up there, because you can see the whole campus. Freshman year I think my favorite, along with everyone else, was the swing outside of McEwen.
What are your plans for when you graduate?
To work for a sport marketing agency in the hospitality department. Here, I would be traveling to different sporting events and organizing sweepstakes for companies like Pepsi, Maserati, Frito Lay, etc., who partner with professional leagues and players to promote their brands. If I don't go straight into the workforce after college, I am applying to Grad school at different areas across the country.
Do you have any pre-game superstitions?
Becca Rolfe and I have some weird ones….First of all, she has to do my hair the same way before every game. Secondly, we have to play Pandora and depict which songs will describe our game that day…strange I know. Also can't forget about the pre-game handshakes that I believe everybody has with at least one person.
