DURHAM, N.C.—The High Point University women's track and field team finished action at the Duke Invitational Saturday (April 22) in Durham, N.C.

In the 3,000m steeplechase, senior
Natalia Ocasio was the runner-up in a season-best time of 10:54.32. Freshman
Zoe Geis had an eight-second PR in the 3,000m steeplechase in 11:08.26.

Junior
Makenzi Holmes-DiGiovine placed eighth in the discus with a throw of 44.17m (144-11). She posted an outdoor PR in the shot put with a mark of 12.51m (41-0.5) to place 12th.

In the high jump, senior
Erika Bridges and sophomore
Charlotte Morrow cleared a season-best height of 1.58m (5-2.25).

Freshman Ariel Wilbeken was close to a season-best in the triple jump with a mark of 11.23m (36-10.25) despite running into a headwind.

 "The conditions were crazy since it was very hot at the beginning of the day, then there was a lightning delay, then a rain delay and after the delays it was cold, but by in large we handled the conditions well," HPU associate track and field coach
Scott Hall said. "We are trying to put some pieces together and as our student-athletes gain some confidence after changing some technical things, our results will be positive."
