DURHAM, N.C.—The High Point University men's track and field team finished action on the first day of the Duke Invitational Friday (April 21) in Durham, N.C.

In the pole vault, freshman
Carter Clasper placed fourth after clearing a height of 4.70m (15-5)

Freshman Pablo Romero Gonzales recorded a season-best mark in the long jump of 6.51m (21-4.25). Romero Gonzales also set a season best in the 110m hurdles in 15.20.

"Pablo ran a personal best in the high hurdles with another season best in the long jump and is really rounding into form for the conference decathlon," HPU head coach
Mike Esposito said. "Our performances in the running events were somewhat disappointing, so we need to bounce back tomorrow with a more competitive effort."

The meet concludes Saturday (April 22), including the javelin, which was postponed due to weather. Action is set to begin at noon.
