HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University women's basketball team kicks off a two-game road trip at Stetson on Monday at 7:00 p.m. in DeLand, Fla.
Â
The Panthers (2-2) are coming off an 82-69 triumph over Barton, which featured three players posting career highs in scoring. Meanwhile, the Hatters (3-3) went 1-2 at the Savannah Invitational over the last week.
Â
QUICK HITTERS
•
Kat Harris began her senior campaign shooting an uncharacteristic 2-for-14 from beyond the arc. However, she broke out of the slump on Tuesday hitting 6-of-9 from distance en route to a career-high 25 points against Barton.
Â
• Harris was one of three Panthers to post a career high in points
Lindsey Edwards poured in 20 and
Shea Morgan collected 17.
Â
•
Emma Bockrath racked up three straight double-doubles for the first time in her career to open the 2017-18 campaign. She ranks 10th in the nation in the statistical category.
Â
• Despite playing a forward spot, Morgan has paced the team in assists in two games this year. The junior leads the team and is fourth in the Big South with 4.0 assists per game.
Â
• HPU assisted on 22 of 31 makes against Barton and have now assisted on 60.8 percent of the field goals this year. That's an increase for the third straight season.
Â
• Hendrix finally has a veteran roster to work with for the first time since 2014-15. HPU has had at least 70 percent of its roster comprised by underclassmen each of the last two years, but have nine upperclassmen this season.
Â
• The addition of
Heather Kearney to the staff is showing early returns as HPU's pressure defense has held opponents to a .257 mark from three-point land, which ranks eighth in the country. Last season, opponents hit .310 from long distance against the Panthers' defense.
Â
• The Panthers are 34-44 in road games under
DeUnna Hendrix and 4-24 in non-conference road outings in that span.
Â

Â

Â
• Eight different players have registered a double-digit scoring outing in 2017-18. Meanwhile, seven have already posted a career-high mark in scoring.
Â
Continuing to Rebound
