HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men's track & field team returns from its holiday break this weekend when it travels to Blacksburg, Va., to compete in the Virginia Tech Invitational.

The two-day meet begins on Friday, Jan. 13 at 5 p.m. Rector Field House on the Virginia Tech Campus.

High Point's field athletes will be well represented in Blacksburg with senior Pat Irwin and freshmen Pablo Romero Gonzalez and John Singleton III competing in the jumps and sophomore Britton Mann and freshman Josh Brown taking part in the throws. Gonzalez will compete in the long jump on Friday then the high jump on Saturday along with Singleton III and Irwin on Saturday. Mann will compete in the weight throw on Friday and the shot put on Saturday along with Brown.

On the track, Gonzalez and Irwin will kick things off on Friday in the 60m hurdles at 5:15 p.m., while junior James House and sophomore Sean Banda will both run the 60m dash at 5:45 p.m. Sophomore Patrick Van Der Cruyssen will run the mile at 6:20 p.m., Irwin, senior Nick Williams, sophomore Mark Jones and freshman Jake Dunn will all run the 500m at 8:30 p.m. then Gonzalez will compete in his third event of the day by running the 300m at 9:10 p.m.

Banda and House will be back in action on Saturday at 2:45 p.m. in the 200m run along with Thomas.
