High Point Notes:
           • High Point takes on Detroit in the first game of the HPU/Elon Classic on Friday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m., in Vert Stadium. The Classic is a weekend tournament co-hosted by the Panthers and Phoenix.
           • HPU opened the 2016 campaign with a 5-1 win over East Tennessee State on Friday, Aug. 26 at Vert Stadium. The win was the Panthers' first ever over ETSU.
           • Freshman
Siggi Benonysson had two goals and an assist in High Point's win over the Buccaneers and was named the Big South Crons Brand Freshman of the Week.

Keegan Meyer picked up the win in his first collegiate start, making three saves in the contest.
           • High Point was picked second in the Big South Preseason Poll after finishing with an 8-6-7 overall record last season, the team's ninth-consecutive finish of .500 or better.

Detroit Notes:
           • Detroit enters the weekend with a 0-1-1 record. The Titans opened the season with a 0-0 draw at Pittsburgh and a 3-1 loss at Marshall. Redshirt-senior Matt Harkema scored Detroit's lone goal in the two games.
           • Redshirt-junior Robbie Beckwell has played all 200 minutes in goal for the Titans and is 0-1-1 with a 1.35 goals-against average and seven saves. Beckwell started two games for Detroit in 2015 and went 2-0-0 with a 0.50 goals-against average and a 0.909 save percentage.
           • Detroit was picked seventh out of 10 teams in the Horizon League Preseason Poll. The Titans finished the 2015 campaign with a 7-5-8 mark and returns their top two scorers in senior Tyler Moorman (7g, 0a) and Spiro Pliakos (3g, 8a).
