High Point Notes:
            • High Point opens the 2016 season with a home game against East Tennessee State on Friday night at 7 p.m.
            • The Panthers played two exhibition games in the preseason, drawing at No. 3 Clemson,1-1, and losing at home to Appalachian State, 1-0. Freshman Siggi Benonysson scored the Panthers' lone goal in the two matches.
            • HPU was picked second in the Big South Preseason Poll, behind 2015 Big South Regular Season co-Champion Radford.
            • High Point finished with an 8-6-7 overall record last season, the team's ninth-consecutive finish of .500 or better.
            • Senior Chris Ramsell is High Point's leading returning scorer with 13 points on five goals and three assists last season.
            • The Panthers will feature a new starter in goal following the graduation of Kody Palmer. Redshirt-freshmen Keegan Meyer and Pat Fallon have split time in the exhibitions.
            • Friday's game is part of an HPU soccer double header and will follow the women's soccer game against Appalachian State, which kicks off at 4 p.m.
 
East Tennessee State Notes:
            • East Tennessee State split two exhibition games during the preseason, losing at Virginia Tech by a score of 3-1 and earning a 6-0 home win over Milligan College.
            • Seven different players scored a goal for the Buccaneers in the two games.
            • East Tennessee State was picked third in the SoCon Preseason Poll behind UNCG and Furman. Both Joao Ramalho and Fletcher Ekern were named to the preseason All-Conference team.
            • ETSU finished the 2016 season with an 8-7-4 overall record and a 4-4-2 mark in the Southern Conference.
            • Ekern was the team's leading scorer last season with 23 points on 10 goals and three assists.
            • Sophomore Jonny Sutherland returns in goal for ETSU after finishing with a 1.19 goals-against average in 19 games last season.
 
Series Notes:
            • Friday's match will be third all-time meeting between High Point and East Tennessee State.
            • The Panthers are winless against ETSU, falling to the Buccaneers by matching score lines of 2-0 in both 2008 and 2015.
