HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point University women's track & field All-American
Christine Rickert makes her U.S. Olympic Trials debut on Thursday, July 7 in Eugene, Ore.

Rickert will suit up at historic Hayward Field for the qualifying round of the javelin throw at 6:30 p.m. (ET)/3:30 p.m. (PT). Out of 24 entered competitors, the top-12 will advance to the javelin final on Saturday, July 9 at 7 p.m. (ET)/4 p.m. (PT).

Rickert is seeded 20
th in the event and will lead off in the first of two flights Thursday. Fans can watch the javelin throw live on the NBCSports app at 6:30 p.m. NBC Sports Network takes over the coverage at 8 p.m. (ET).

Rickert is coming off a 12
th-place finish at the NCAA Championships June 9 in Eugene. The Lancaster, Pa., product threw 50.16m (164-7) to earn second team All-America accolades for her senior campaign. She became the third HPU track & field student-athlete ever to advance to Eugene, joining Jacob Smith (2012/2014, 3000m steeplechase) and Dakota Peachee (2013, 3000m steeplechase).

Rickert qualified for Eugene with a third-place showing at the NCAA preliminary in Jacksonville, Fla. (51.03m, 167-5) to garner NCAA All-Region honors in the process.

She won her third-straight Big South javelin title in May and set a new HPU and Big South record with an impressive throw of 52.47m (172-1) at April's VertKlasse Meeting.

For her outstanding efforts on the field and in the classroom, Rickert garnered third team Academic All-America honors in June and earned the Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year award of her career in May. She also was named a nominee for the 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year award, one of the highest honors presented in collegiate sport.
