HPU track collects major hardware at Big South

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The High Point University track & field team collected a trio of major awards during a successful weekend for the Panthers at the Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Senior Will Narramore became the first student-athlete in HPU men's track & field history to be named Most Outstanding Field Performer. The Nashville product earned a trio of all-conference honors and won the long jump title with a school record mark of 7.35m (24-1.50). Narramore also placed second in the triple jump with a school record mark of 15.35m (50-4.50) that eclipsed the previous Big South meet record set in 1999.

In addition, senior Paul O'Donoghue was named Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second-straight season. O'Donoghue carries a 3.9 GPA and is majoring in mathematics. He earned a pair of all-conference honors in the 800m run and the 4x400m relay.

On the women's side, senior Jamie Schnuck earned the first Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award of her career. She carries a 3.98 GPA and is majoring in exercise science. Scnuck set a new school record in the weight throw Friday while finishing third to garner all-conference accolades.

It marks just the second time in league history that one school produced both Scholar-Athlete of the Year honorees (Liberty 2001).

A total of four women's track & field student-athletes garnered all-conference accolades, while eight earned the honor on the men's side.
