2016-17 Schedule

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men's and women's track & field teams have officially released their 2016-17 schedule, highlighted by the annual VertKlasse Meeting at Vert Stadium March 31 and April 1.

HPU will be hosting four home meets, including the High Point University Team Challenge at JDL in Winston-Salem February 9. In outdoor season, three meets will be held at Vert Stadium: the Bill Webb Combined Events (March 16-17), the Bob Davidson Spring Kick-Off (March 17-18) and the renowned VertKlasse Meeting, which is entering its ninth season.
 
Starting off the season, HPU will attend the UNCG Early Bird Dual at JDL in Winston-Salem, N.C. on December 4.
 
With limited entries, HPU will send only a select few to the Virginia Tech Invitational, in Blacksburg, Va. January 13-14. The team will head to Blacksburg again for the Virginia Tech Challenge February 17-18.
 
Competing alongside elite and professional athletes, the annual Camel City Invitational will be hosted at JDL February 3-4. This meet always includes anyone from beginners to Olympians, which attracts people from around the country both to spectate and to compete.
 
The indoor Big South Championship will also be held at JDL February 25 – 26, followed by the NCAA Championship in College Station, Texas, a week later.
 
HPU will be kicking off outdoor season at home for the first time in more than five years with the Bill Webb Combined Events meet for the heptathletes and decathletes, paired with the Bob Davidson Spring Kick-off.
 
The Duke Invitational will bring lots of competition from all over to perform at a very high level on April 21 – 22, where lots of high-caliber marks have been made in the past for the HPU track program.
 
The outdoor Big South Conference Championship will be held at Charleston Southern University May 11-13.
 
This year, the NCAA Preliminary Round is in Lexington, Ky. (May 25-27) while the NCAA Championship will once again take place in Eugene, Ore., June 7-10.

The Panthers will look to build on a sensational 2015-16 campaign in which a record eight student-athletes qualified for NCAA preliminary action while a program-best two athletes made the NCAA Championship in Eugene. In addition, HPU posted a school-record best 148 points during the men's indoor Big South Championship and set another record on the women's side with 120.5 points during the outdoor conference championship.
