WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – In what's becoming a feat as regular as the Sun rising in the east and setting in the west, senior
Jamie Schnuck once again broke her school record in the weight throw Friday to lead the Panthers at the Camel City Classic.
Â
For the third time in as many meets this season, Schnuck surpassed her previous record mark by a significant margin. Amongst a highly competitive field at JDL, the Oconomowoc, Wis., native placed ninth Friday with a throw of 16.52m (54-2.50).

Her school record-breaking throws this season have included 15.80m at the JDL Kickoff Classic, 16.11m at the Wake Forest Invitational and now 16.52 at the Camel City Classic.

"Jamie is really starting to figure things out," associate track & field head coach
Scott Hall said. "She opened with an excellent throw and put together a solid day. It will be exciting to see her continue to top her own mark as the season progresses."

In addition to Schnuck, redshirt-sophomore
Makenzi Holmes-DiGiovine also competed in the event and finshed 28
th with a mark of 12.93m (42-5.25).

On the track, junior
Cozette Collin finished 18
th in the 800m run in a strong time of 2:18.62, while freshman
Janelle Rothacker placed 41
st (2:27.10) in the race. In the 400m run, senior Lilla Lorand placed 35
th for the Panthers (1:00.39) while freshmen
Emmy Geis (1:02.91) and
Jasmyn Gillespie (1:05.99) placed 66
th and 82
nd, respectively.

Redshirt-junior
Katie Benavente represented HPU in the pole vault and set a new collegiate PR while finishing 19
th with a mark of 2.90m (9-6.25). Her previous top height had been 2.75m.

In distance action, seniors
Erika Peoples and
Sarah Bode each posted collegiate PRs in the mile run. Peoples placed 35
th (5:23.00) while Bode was 50
th in 5:35.88.

Five members of the Purple & White raced in the 60m hurdles preliminaries. Sophomore
Mikaela Campbell finished 36
th (9.45 seconds) to lead the Panther pack, while fellow sophomore
Ashlynn Schiro was 37
th in 9.53 seconds. Sophomore
Haley Cianfarini finished 43
rd (9.69 seconds) and junior
Erika Bridges (9.74) and senior
Sara Katherine Kirkpatrick placed 47
th and 51
st, respectively.

A trio of Panthers competed in the preliminaries of the 60m dash. Campbell led the way for HPU with a time of 8.03 seconds (48
th), while junior
Alyn Carr placed 52nd in a time of 8.06. Junior
Amanda Gregory placed 63
rd in 8.21 seconds.

The final race of the night was the 3000m run and featured seniors
Julia Zautcke and
Lindsey Siska and freshman
Courtney Kerr.

Zautcke led HPU with a 21
st-place finish and a time of 10:29.08. Siska finished 42
nd in 11:00.18 and Kerr placed 43
rd in 11:00.20

The Panthers wrap up the Camel City Classic on Saturday. Seniors
Jill Marois and
Alyssa Palenchar, as well as junior
Natalia Ocasio will suit up for the Penn State National Invitational Saturday as well.
