Devante Wallace is enjoying an outstanding rookie season for WBC Raiffeisen Wels in the Austrian Basketball League.

Through 22 games in 2015-16, Wallace is averaging a team-high 15.4 points per game for WBC and shooting a sizzling 47.4 percent from 3-point range. He also is chipping in 4.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals in 31 minutes per contest.

Wallace has recorded at least 20 points in five games and notched a season-high 33 points and hit 7-of-11 3-pointers in a win in the team's Dec. 27 contest. He has reached the 30-point plateau twice in 2015-16.
He ranks 11th in the league in scoring and is sixth in offensive efficiency.

"I'm doing well and enjoying my first season of professional basketball," Wallace said. "At first it was tough being away from the U.S. I had to get used to being away from my family and friends. But I have adjusted and am playing well right now."

Wallace finished his High Point University career ranked No. 2 all-time in 3-point percentage (.424) and No. 3 in 3-point field goals made (184). He ranked second in the nation in 3-point percentage in 2013-14 (.491) and scored 973 points and 470 rebounds over his four-year career.

Wallace started 30 of 32 games for the Purple & White in 2014-15 and ranked second on the Panthers with 10.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest. The Baltimore, Md., native shot 42.9 percent (36-84) from 3-point territory in league play and averaged 13.3 points and 5.3 rebounds while shooting 50.0 percent (8-16) from 3-point range in postseason competition.

"Playing for Coach Cherry has really helped me not only because of what he taught me on the court by off the court as well," Wallace said. "He prepared me for situations and issues that might arise, and I knew how to handle them because of his advice and guidance. This is a great experience and it's only the first step. I've experienced success as a rookie in this league and I can give so much credit to High Point University basketball and our coaches for preparing me for this experience."
