LIVE STATSLIVE VIDEOHIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University women's soccer team hosts North Florida at Vert Stadium on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. The Panthers are still undefeated on the season following a 2-0 win over Stetson on Friday.
The game between the Panthers and Hatters was scoreless until the 83rd minute when sophomore
Becca Rolfe notched her first goal of the season with a header off a free kick by sophomore
Taylor Romano. HPU drew a foul just over the half line and Romano hit a high ball into the box where Rolfe clipped it up over the keeper from the penalty spot.
Rolfe struck again for her second goal of the game and her second goal of the season less than a minute later to put High Point ahead by the final 2-0 margin. Redshirt-sophomore
Bailey Beattie got to the end line on the left flank and whipped a cross in front of goal. Rolfe made a run inside the Stetson defender and deposited the ball into the net from just in front of goal. The two goals for Rolfe represent a new single-game high for the sophomore.
North Florida is 1-3-0 in 2015 following a 1-0 loss at Elon of Friday. The Ospreys began the season with a 4-0 win over Francis Marion before dropping three-straight 1-0 decisions to Florida Atlantic, Presbyterian College and Elon. Alexis Bredeau, Krista Colubiale and Amanda Fischler have all scored goals this season for UNF. Victoria Ekeli and Susie Ford have split time in net this season for North Florida. Ekeli has played in three games and has a 0.00 goals-against average with six saves while Susie Ford has played in all five games and has a 0.90 goals-against average with 16 saves.
High Point and North Florida met for the first time last season with HPU picking up a 4-3 win in Jacksonville, Fla.
Paige Lloyd scored the game-winning goal in the 90th minute with
Kelsey Perrell and
Taylor Thompson also finding the back of the net.
