HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men's soccer team travels to Virginia this weekend to take on George Mason on Saturday, Sept. 19, in Fairfax, Va., at 7 p.m. The game will be HPU's third straight against an Atlantic 10 opponent.

High Point is coming off a 1-1 draw at Davidson on Tuesday and enters the weekend with a 1-2-2 overall record in 2015. Redshirt-freshman Justen Shear put High Point ahead with his first collegiate goal in the 11th minute but Davidson tied on a goal by Valeriy Sviderskiy in the 32nd minute. Redshirt-senior Kody Palmer made eight stops in goal for HPU.

The Panthers have struggled offensively this season with three goals through the first five games. Shear, sophomore Avery Ryan and freshman Ben Hietala have all scored once for High Point while senior Austin Yearwood, redshirt-junior Erien Campbell and junior Rentao Punyed have all notched assists. High Point's defense has performed well, allowing five goals in 2015. Palmer has played every minute in net and is 1-2-2 with a 0.92 goals-against average and a .833 save percentage.

George Mason is 2-4-0 this season with wins over Fairleigh Dickinson and Howard and losses to American, Albany, Virginia and Hofstra. The Patriots' last game was a 2-1 home loss to No. 17 Hofstra on Sunday. GMU tied the game at 1-1 with a goal by Cullen Hunter in the 79th minute before the Pride pulled out the win with an 85th-minute game winner.

Hunter, Daniel Hoffman and Edgar Zepeda are all tied for the George Mason lead in goals with two apiece. Stephen Durbin is tied with the trio for the team lead in points with a goal and a team-high two assists. Steffen Kraus and Michael Butts have split time in goal for the Patriots in 2015. Butts is 1-1-0 with a 0.76 goals-against average and a .750 save percentage while Kraus is 1-3-0 with a 2.37 goals-against average and a .500 save percentage.

Saturday's meeting between High Point and George Mason will be the first all-time meeting between the two sides. High Point is 0-1-1 against teams from the Atlantic 10 this season with a 2-1 loss at home to Dayton and a 1-1 draw at Davidson.
