LIVE STATSLIVE VIDEOHIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men's soccer team continues its season-opening road swing with a game at East Tennessee State in Johnson City, Tenn., on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The Panthers began the season with a 0-0 draw at UNC Wilmington on Friday. High Point held the Seahawks without a shot on goal throughout regulation and both overtime periods to leave Wilmington with the tie.
East Tennessee State began the season on the road at No. 11 Clemson where the Buccaneers fell by a score of 3-1. Forward Joao Ramalho scored the first goal of the contest for ETSU but Clemson came back with three second-half goals to claim the win.
The Buccaneers went 7-10-1 overall and 3-6-1 in their first season in the Southern Conference. Ramalho returns this season after leading ETSU in scoring with 24 points and 11 goals in 18 contests and being named first-team All-SoCon last season. He is the only returning player for East Tennessee State that scored more than two goals last season. Redshirt-sophomore Daniel Adelman is back in net after going 7-9-1 with a 1.52 goals-against average and a .698 save percentage in his first collegiate season in 2014.
High Point is 0-1-0 all-time against East Tennessee State with a 2-0 road loss to the Buccaneers in the teams' only previous meeting back in 2008.
