LIVE STATSLIVE VIDEOHIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men's soccer team will wrap up the 2015 regular season with a home game against No. 9 Coastal Carolina on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m.
High Point moved to 7-6-4 overall and 3-3-2 in the Big South following a 4-1 win at Gardner-Webb over the weekend. The Panthers got two goals and an assist from sophomore
Avery Ryan and a goal and an assist from junior
Chris Ramsell in the win.
Ryan leads High Point this season with 17 points on a team-high seven goals and three assists while Ramsell is second on the team with nine points on three goals and three assists. Sophomore
Ebe Kudolo paces the team in assists with four on the season.
The High Point defense has been among the best in the Big South this season, allowing just 15 goals in 17 games. Redshirt-senior
Kody Palmer has played every minute in goal for HPU in 2015 and has a 0.82 goals-against average with six shutouts.
The nationally-ranked Chanticleers come to Vert Stadium with a 12-1-2 overall record on the season and a 6-1-1 mark in the Big South. Coastal played Radford to a 0-0 draw over the weekend and is now undefeated in its past six games.
Tobenna Uzo leads Coastal Carolina with 16 points on five goals and a team-high six assists. He is second in the Big South in assists. Bryce Follensbee is tops on the team with seven goals and Sergio Camargo also has double-digit points in 2015 with 12 points on four goals and four assists.
Coastal Carolina has the best defense in the Big South and one of the top defensives in the country. The Chanticleers have allowed just 10 goals in 15 games for a 0.64 goals-against average. Fernando Pina is 12-1-2 with a 0.65 goals-against average and seven shutouts on the season.
High Point is just 3-18-3 in 24 all-time games against Coastal Carolina. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw in Conway, S.C., last season but the Chanticleers picked up a 4-1 win in the two teams' rematch in the Big South Semifinals. High Point's last win over CCU came in 2010 when the Panthers got a 2-1 double-overtime win on the road.
