FARMVILLE, Va. – The High Point University men's soccer team went on the road and picked up a 2-1 win over Longwood on Saturday night in Farmville, Va. The Panthers got a goal in each half to move back over .500 for the season.

"I am really pleased to get three points away at Longwood," head coach EJ O'Keeffe said. "I thought we played well for the first 60 minutes and this time we were able to find some goals. We need to use today as a learning tool to figure out how to better manage the game so we can do better with a lead in the future. This is a good result that can serve as a building block for the rest of the season."

The win moves High Point to 5-4-3 on the season and 2-1-1 in the Big South. The Panthers are 4-1-1 in their last six games. Longwood falls to 5-5-0 and 1-2-0 in conference play.

High Point got the first goal of the game in the 11th minute when junior Chris Ramsell connected for his second goal of the season. The forward received a pass on the left side of the box from redshirt-senior Cameron Foster and scored with a low shot to the far post to put the Panthers in front.

HPU then doubled its lead early in the second half when freshman Ryeong Choi scored to put High Point in front by a score of 2-0 in the 49th minute. Sophomore Ebe Kudolo ripped a shot on target that was saved by the Longwood keeper but the rebound fell to Choi who finished with a shot into the roof of the net for his second goal of the season.

Longwood got a goal back in the 64th minute when Willy Miezan picked up his eighth goal of the season for the Lancers. Longwood was unable to get any closer though as High Point hung on for its fifth win of the season.

The Panthers earned the win despite being outshot, 18-12, in the game. HPU had five shots on target compared to eight for the Lancers. Redshirt-senior Kody Palmer improved to 5-4-3 in goal, making seven saves in the contest.

High Point returns home for a non-conference game against Virginia Tech on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Kickoff for the game against the Hokies is set for 7 p.m.
