LIVE STATSLIVE VIDEOHIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men's soccer team hosts Presbyterian College in its Big South home opener on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m., in Vert Stadium. The Panthers will try and improve to 2-0-0 in the conference with a win over the Blue Hose.
High Point enters the weekend on a two-game win streak, which has moved the team back to .500 on the season at 3-3-2 overall. The Panthers earned a 3-0 road win at UNC Asheville on Sunday to open Big South play. Redshirt-senior
Colscon Wiley put HPU in front with his first goal of the season and both junior
Chris Ramsell and freshman
Ryeong Choi added goals in the closing minutes to secure the win.
Ramsell has three points on a goal and an assist and is tied for the team lead in points along with junior
Renato Punyed and sophomore
Avery Ryan. The balanced High Point attack has seen seven different players score one goal through the first eight games of 2015.

Kody Palmer was named the Big South Defensive Player of the Week on Monday thanks to back-to-back shutouts in wins over UNC Greensboro and UNC Asheville. He is now tied with former HPU keeper Michael Chesler for the program's Div. I career record in shutouts with 20. Palmer is 3-3-2 on the season with a 0.69 goals-against average and four shutouts. The Panther defense currently ranks sixth in the nation in goals-against average.
Presbyterian College is still looking for its first win of 2015, coming into Friday's contest with a 0-8-0 overall record and a 0-1-0 mark in the Big South. The Blue Hose took a 2-0 loss to Radford at home in their last game and have been outscored 26-3 on the season.
Onyemachi Provost and Matt Trimby have scored the only two goals for Presbyterian College this season and are tied for the team lead with two points. Provost scored in a 5-1 loss to Georgia State and Trimby scored in a 3-1 loss at Wofford.
Johnny Archer and Connor Behrend have split time in goal with Archer appearing in seven games and Behrend seeing time in three. Archer is 0-6-0 with a 3.12 goals-against average and Behrend is 0-2-0 with a 3.59 goals-against average.
High Point is 7-3-1 all-time against Presbyterian College. The Panthers earned a 3-2 win in Clinton, S.C., last season behind goals from Punyed,
Mamadee Nyepon and
Irvin Ramirez.
