HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University women's track & field team is back in action Jan. 18-19 at the JDL Winston-Salem State Open at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Events kick off Sunday (Jan. 18) at 11 a.m. with the high jump. The day wraps up with the mile run at 5:50 p.m. Monday begins with the triple jump at 10 a.m. and concludes with the 4x400m relay at 3:55 p.m.
Sunday's events include the pole vault, which will play host to five Panther student-athletes. At the JDL College Kickoff Classic in December, junior
Alyssa Palenchar led the Panthers with a second-place finish. The Bradenville, Pa., native posted a mark of 3.55m (11-8), while senior
Catelyn Griffin was third with a vault of 3.40m (11-2). Both student-athletes will compete in the event on Sunday, along with junior
Jill Marois, sophomore
Madison Depner and senior
Ashton Kirby.
Three Panthers will see action on the long jump Sunday (3 p.m.), including sophomores
Amanda Gregory and
Alyn Carr and freshman
Kela Seals. Gregory finished 14
th in the long jump at the JDL Kickoff with a mark of 5.00m (16-5).
A pair of Panthers will headline HPU's contingent in the 200m dash Monday (2:20 p.m.). The duo includes freshmen
Haley Cianfarini and
CeAnna Soper.
The shot put also begins Monday (1 p.m.) and will include junior
Jamie Schnuck. Schuck also will compete in the weight throw on Sunday. The Oconomowoc, Wis., native set a new personal best in the weight throw at the JDL Kickoff with a mark of 13.90m (45-7).
After this weekend's event, HPU will return to action on UNCG Spartan Team Challenge at JDL on Jan. 25.
