Manika Gamble of the High Point University women's track & field team placed ninth in the 400-meter hurdles at the Aggie Classic on Sunday at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro. It was Gamble's final race before the NCAA East Preliminary, which begins May 24.
Gamble placed fifth in her heat and ninth overall with a time of 1:01.71 in the 400-meter hurdles at the Aggie Classic on Sunday.
As of Monday morning, Gamble ranked 21st in the East in the 400-meter hurdles with her season-best time of 58.85 from the HPU VertKlasse Meeting on March 24. Gamble's career best in the event is 58.56, which she ran at the Florida Relays in 2010.
The top 48 entrants qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary Round, which runs May 24-26 at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. The top 12 finishers in the race qualifying for the NCAA Final in Des Moines, Iowa, June 6-9.
Gamble won the 400-meter hurdles four times in a row at the Big South Championship and her time of 58.56 is a Big South and HPU record.
