COMPLETE RESULTS
The High Point University men's track & field team competed in the Liberty Collegiate Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Lynchburg, Va. The Panthers got a win from
Anthony Kilar in the unseeded section of the 5,000-meter and
Alex Fisher took 10th in the 100-meter hurdles.
“We ran limited numbers in this meet but had some good results in extremely windy conditions,” said HPU head coach
Mike Esposito. “
Steven Scally had a collegiate best in the discus and
Tristan Faure had a good decathlon going before he injured his foot in the hurdles. It was nice to see
Anthony Kilar get a win in his section of the 5K.”
HPU ran limited numbers in the distance events, with Kilar, a sophomore, leading the way with his win in his section of the 5,000-meter in 16:00.37. Sophomore
Jonathan Riley doubled in the middle distance events, placing 20th in the 1,500-meter in 4:06.24 and 36th in the 800-meter in 2:02.17. Also in the 800-meter,
Corey Grove placed 15th in 1:59.31 and
Seth Harwood took 38th.
Mike Feroe placed 49th in the 1,500-meter.
Junior
Alex Fisher placed 10th in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.39 and freshman
Ryan Venable placed 13th in 15.90. Venable's heat faced a tough headwind. Both came back to run the 200-meter.
In the dashes, senior
Justin Conaway placed 19th in the 100-meter dash, running 11.32, also into a significant headwind, before freshman
Evan Emery took 15th in the 200-meter in 22.37. The Panthers' 4x100-meter relay of Conaway, Emery,
TJ Brancaccio and
Grant Burwell placed eighth in 44.07.
Freshman
Steven Scally took 21st in the javelin and 22nd in the discus with a throw of 39.39 meters (129-3). Freshman Tristian Faure began competition in the decathlon and competed in six events before an injury in the 110-meter hurdles.
Next weekend, High Point will compete in both the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C., and Johnson C. Smith Invitational in Charlotte, N.C.
