Box Score

High Point University senior Renee Hitchcock scored a pair of goals as the Panthers earned a 4-4 tie on the road at Georgia Southern on Sunday afternoon.

The tie was the fourth of the season for HPU, who moved to 3-2-4 overall, while Georgia Southern went to 2-3-2 with the draw. Hitchcock's two tallies marked the first multi-goal performance of her career.

The Panthers grabbed the lead in the sixth minute of play when redshirt-freshman Karra Damascus collected her fourth goal of the year at the 5:38 mark. Damascus followed up a rebound of a deflected shot by teammate Sara Rager. Hitchcock notched her first goal of the game at 18:01 as she finished a free kick service from Courtney Spotts giving High Point a 2-0 advantage.

GSU's Ashley Toussaint collected a loose ball in the box following an Eagle corner kick and slid into the side of the net in the 34th minute to trim the Panther's lead to 2-1.

High Point earned a 3-1 lead just before halftime as junior Janine Lind scored a goal off a pass from Laura Eldridge at 42:19.

Hitchcock gave the Panthers a 4-1 lead with just under 15 minutes played in the second half (59:58) when she blasted a shot into the upper right corner.

Toussaint's second goal of the game in the 68th minute sparked a rally that saw the Eagles score three goals in the final 23 minutes of action to earn the tie. Elissa Botts and Niki Lepper each recorded scores for the GSU.

Up next for High Point is a game next Friday (Sept. 26) at South Carolina State as the Panthers continue their month-long road stretch.
