High Point Head Coach Tooey Loy:

"We never really got going early in the game. We missed some easy ones and were unable to really get going during the game. I thought that we played really hard. We took a few quick shots early that may have hurt us. We were fighting an uphill battle the whole game. I told her team that this game doesn't define the year. We earned a bid in the WNIT by finishing first in the regular season, so this isn't our last game."

Winthrop Head Coach Bud Childers:

"First of all, High Point had a great year. We had three tough games against them this year. It's one of those games of match-ups and we were able to take advantge in the post.  You have a credit our defense with the victory today. I thought our defense was tough to play against today.  I think they have a wonderful team. They have three great guards. Our young sophomores played older today and played their hearts out. We believed all along we could compete in this conference, even though it's been a frustrated year.  In post-season play, every coach will tell you will only advance if your guards play well. It was a war out there today. We haven't had a game that physical the entire conference season.
