Panthers Shut-Out Blue Hose, 2-0

High Point scored two goals in the opening half to defeat Presbyterian, 2-0 on Saturday night in Vert Track and Soccer Stadium. The Panthers improve to 4-7-1 while the Blue Hose fall to 1-9-1.

HPU got on the board early when Michael Saryee crossed the ball from the left side into Hilaire Babou directly in front of the goal. Babou sent the ball past PC goalkeeper Mark Owens for his second goal of the season to give the Panthers the 1-0 advantage with just 4:25 off the clock.

In the ninth minute the Blue Hose committed a costly foul that set up the HPU free kick. Matt Tuttle passed to Scott Rojo who set-up Chris Shrum inside the box for the Panthers' second goal of the night and the third for Shrum on the season.

Presbyterian had several chances, matching the Panthers with seven shots on the night, but only had three on goal to HPU's five. Freshman keeper Corey Whisenhunt got the shut-out for the Panthers. Owens saved three for the Blue Hose.

The Panthers will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. when they host Randolph College in Vert Track and Soccer Stadium.
