Elon proved to be too much for the young Panther squad, defeating HPU, 6-1 today in men's soccer action at Rudd Field.
The Panther's Daniel Haywood prevented the shutout by the Phoenix by scoring in 72nd minute off of an unassisted free kick.
For the Phoenix Kiki Willis lead the way, by turing a hat trick and scoring three consecutive goals. The first goal came in the 15th minute off of a double assist from Douglas Boateng and Fabyan Saxe. Wilis' second goal came in the 36th minute off assists from Aaron Parker and Brett Paschall, and his final goal was a header in the 53rd minute.
Elon's Brennan Farrell added two goals of his own, one in the 57th minute and the second one at the 64 minute mark. Aaron Parker rounded out the Phoenix's scoring with a goal in the 61st minute of the contest.
In goal for High Point was Adam Ross who had 4 saves in the loss.
High Point returns home next Saturday to face Campbell. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Albion Millis Stadium.
