High Point won its eighth-straight game and sent seniors Chan Ingram, Charlena Martin, and Emily Mills off on a high note in their final regular-season home game with a 77-50 win over Winthrop Saturday night in women's basketball action in the Millis Center.

The Panthers (16-11, 11-3 Big South) got 17 points from Katie O'Dell, 12 points from Candyce Sellars and 11 points and five assists from Martin.

The Lady Eagles fell to 2-25 (0-14 in Big South play). Gene't Moore led Winthrop with 17 points.

High Point had already clinched the No. 2 seed in next week's Advance Auto Parts Big South Tournament, which will begin Tuesday night with the Panthers hosting seventh-seeded Coastal Carolina (7:00 pm). Winthrop will be the No. 8 seed and travel to eight-time defending Big South champ Liberty Tuesday night.

High Point's winning streak is the longest in its short Division I history. The Lady Eagles became the first Big South team since UNC Asheville in 2002-03 to finish winless in Conference play.

The Panthers jumped out to a 17-4 lead on a layup by Amber Bryant at the 12:54 mark, and led by 25 points on two occasions, including the halftime score of 44-19. High Point forced 20 Winthrop turnovers in the first 20 minutes, and shot 42 percent from the field before intermission.

HPU continued to roll in the second half, pushing the lead to 32 points when Sarah Haak put back a miss with 15:35 left for a 57-25 cushion. Winthrop didn't get within 25 points the rest of the way.

High Point held a 54-30 edge on the boards, and got a game-high nine rebounds from freshman Amber Manuel. Haak and O'Dell each chipped in seven boards, while O'Dell and Katie Ralls each swiped four steals.

Winthrop got nine points, seven rebounds and six assists from Arin Kress, and eight points and four assists from Katie Kilcollin.
