Women's Basketball Downs Radford, 84-64

High Point's women's basketball team claimed its seventh-straight win Wednesday night defeating Radford 84-64 in the Dedmon Center.
 
The Panthers ended RU's nine-game home-winning streak and improve to 15-11 for the season and 10-3 in the Big South, while the Highlanders dip to 12-14 and 6-7 in the league.

Candyce Sellars was 5-for-8 from behind the arc and collected a career-high 21 points to lead HPU, while Katie O'Dell collected her seventh double-double for the season (16 points and 12 rebounds). Katie Ralls notched a career-high 14 points, shooting 8-of-9 at the free throw line.

The Highlanders were paced by Kelli Darden and Taryn Causey, each collecting 13 points with Causey perfect (7-for-7) at the charity stripe. Sarah Stephens and Shavon Earp chipped in 10 points a piece for Radford.

HPU took an early 5-0 lead, before the Highlanders went up 6-5, but the Panthers would go on a 9-0 run to take a 14-6 advantage. High Point forced 13 RU turnovers in the first half to take the lead, 40-25, going into the locker room.

Sellars shot back-to-back three-pointers to help the Panthers extend their lead to 21 in the second half.

Sarah Haak provided nine points and four boards for the Panthers, while freshman Amber Manuel tossed in six points and tallied nine rebounds.

High Point played a consistent game shooting 50 percent from the field in the first half, as well as, 50 percent in the second half. HPU outrebounding the Highlanders, 44-29.

The Panthers return home Saturday for their final game of the 2004-05 regular season against Winthrop. Tip-off with the Lady Eagles is set for 7:00 pm in the Millis Center.

Radford finishes out its regular season on Saturday also, hosting number one Liberty at 7:00 pm in the Dedmon Center.
