Hannah Nail recorded her second-career shutout and
Alex Torriero and
Amy Anzovino scored goals to lead High Point to a 2-0 win over Longwood Thursday night in women's soccer action at Albion Millis Stadium.
The Panthers improve to 4-3-0, while the visiting Lancers drop to 1-8-0.
Nail made three saves for the Panthers, who out-shot Longwood by a 23-5 count. Lancer keeper
Anne Whitmore made 11 saves.

Tracie Foels said. "We had some good individual performances tonight, most notably Hannah and
Carolyn Bader."
Torriero's first collegiate goal lifted the Panthers to an early 1-0 lead. In the 8th minute,
Ryan Hays launched a corner kick from the right side which Torriero headed through the Longwood defense for the first score of the game.
HPU dominated possession in the first half, out-shooting the Lancers 14-2.
The Panthers tacked on an insurance goal in the 61st minute when Whitmore punched away
Jen Evans' header, but Anzovino was right there to bury the rebound in the back of the net for a 2-0 advantage.
Longwood had a strong chance to cut the deficit in half in the 65th minute when
Mikaela Bizer rocketed a shot from just outside the 18-yard box, but Nail was there to make a leaping save and preserve the shutout.
Whitmore performed well on a busy night, stopping three Evans rockets in a five-minute span late in the second half.
Evans tallied a game-high nine shots, including five on goal.
Kelsie Bradberry and
Kristina Reed had the other shots-on-goal for Longwood.
The Panthers (1-0-0 Big South) try to stay unbeaten in Conference play when they host VMI on Sunday afternoon at Albion Millis Stadium (2:00 pm). Longwood gets a visit from Campbell next Thursday night in Farmville (7:00 pm).
