Box Score Kevin Solano went 3-for-6 at the plate with a home run and four RBI to lead Stony Brook to a 19-5 win over High Point Saturday at Erath Field.
The Seawolves (3-5) won their second straight over the Panthers, who dip to 3-10 on the season.
Paul Carufe picked up his first victory of the season for Stony Brook, while Josh Cotten (1-2) was saddled with the loss for High Point.
Stony Brook broke out of the gates to score five first inning runs and tack on six more in the second inning. The Seawolves added five more runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by a three-run home run by Solano.
High Point came back for five runs in the bottom of the fifth, and got catcher Jayson Hoffman's pinch-hit home run in the process.
Matt Devins had a 4-for-5 day for the visiting Seawolves, who pounded out 19 hits. Hoffman led the way offensively for HPU (2-for-3).
Carufe worked five innings to pick up the win for the Seawolves. Cotten lasted just two innings for HPU, which turned to Phil Leake, Jordan Reisman and John Antignano in relief.
The teams meet at 1:00 pm Sunday in the series finale at Erath Field.
