Box Score Jen Evans scored four goals to help High Point cruise to a 6-0 victory over South Carolina State Saturday night in non-conference women's soccer action at Albion Millis Stadium.
The Panthers improve to 8-7-0, while the Lady Bulldogs dip to 2-10-0.
Evans scored in the 7th, 26th, 32nd and 67th minutes for the Panthers, who also got goals from
Carolyn Bader and
Amy Anzovino in the win. The six-goal margin of victory was the largest for HPU since a 9-0 blanking of Mount Olive in 1997.
It was also the largest offensive output for the defending Big South-champion Panthers since a 7-3 victory over Winthrop on Oct. 1, 2003.
Ryan Hays who entered the game tied for the Big South Conference lead with five assists, added three more in the contest. Anzovino, Evans,
Reine DeLaat and
Alex Torriero also notched assists for the Panthers in the win.
Courtney Noel recorded her third-career shutout, stopping all three shots she faced in the process. The Panthers out-shot the Lady Bulldogs by a whopping 28-4 count.

Nicole Betancourt made 11 saves.
The Panthers got on the board when Hays launched a corner kick to Torriero, and the ball went through the the box to Evans, who scored from close range for a 1-0 lead in the 7th minute.
Four minutes later, HPU went up 2-0 after Anzovino found Bader open in front of the goal. Evans added two more tallies before halftime, both on headers following Hays corner kicks.
Anzovino contributed her team-leading ninth goal of the year in the 51st minute when she scored off assists from DeLaat and Evans, and Evans' fourth goal of the night and seventh of the season (unassisted in the 67th minute) completed the scoring.

HPU visits Radford on Wednesday night before its regular-season finale next Saturday night at home against Coastal Carolina (7:00 pm). South Carolina State hosts Big South member UNC Asheville on Tuesday evening in Orangeburg (6:00 pm).
