Box Score 2 High Point won the first game from host Davidson, but the Wildcats came back to take the next three and win the match, 3-1, Saturday in the National Invitational volleyball tournament on the Davidson campus.
Davidson (7-6) topped the Panthers by a linescore of 22-30, 30-21, 30-29, 30-26.
Lindsey Pickens had a double-double for HPU with 11 kills and 11 digs.
Kamarsha Ryan and
Heather Brooks also reached double-figures with 10 kills apiece.
Heather Butt tallied 40 assists for the Panthers.
In their second match of the day, the Panthers dropped a hard-fought three-game match to Boise State, 30-23, 30-25, 30-28. Pickens recorded 14 kills and 15 digs, while Ryan added 13 kills.
Kim Anderson tallied a team-high 16 digs while Butt collected 40 assists.
Ryan was named to the 2003 National Invitational All-Tournament team.
On Friday, Virginia (13-0), one of just eight undefeated teams remaining in the country, defeated the Panthers 3-0 (30-14, 30-20, 30-23). Pickens led HPU with nine kills and eight digs. Ryan and Brooks added eight kills apiece.
The Panthers salvaged a split of the day with a 3-0 blanking of Gardner-Webb. It was HPU's second win of the season over the Bulldogs (5-10), and came by a linescore of 30-18, 30-27 and 30-8.
Four Panthers finished with attack percentages of .400 or better, including Brooks (13 kills, .524) and
Sabrina Wahid (8 kills, .500).
