Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 High Point won its second match of the year Friday afternoon, 3-0, over Gardner-Webb during the first day of action at the 2003 Aggie Volleyball Classic, hosted by North Carolina A&T.

The win for the Panthers (by a linescore of 30-28, 30-20, 30-25) is their first 3-0 victory since November 8, 2001, when HPU downed Elon 3-0.

The Panthers (2-9) got 16 kills from Kamarsha Ryan and 14 kills, 10 digs, and five service aces from reigning Big South Freshman of the Week Lindsey Pickens. Heather Butt had 35 assists for HPU.

Earlier in the day, High Point fell to Marshall, 3-1, by a linescore of 30-25, 30-14, 26-30, 30-15.

Pickens posted a double-double for the Panthers with 10 kills and 10 digs, along with three service aces. Ryan also recorded 10 kills, and April Shields tallied 11 digs.

For Marshall (3-4), Nicole Michal led the way with a match-high 20 kills, while Nickie Sanlin and Isabell Anderer added 12 kills apiece.

The Panthers take on Savannah State (1:00 pm) and North Carolina A&T (5:00 pm) on Saturday in A&T's Corbett Center.
