Elon got second-half goals from Jared Rudolph and John Romano to break a scoreless tie and top rival and former conference foe High Point, 2-0, Sunday afternoon in the regular-season finale for both schools.
The Phoenix improve to 6-10-1, while the Panthers fall to 4-13-2.
HPU outshot Elon 7-6 before halftime. Matt Long made four saves in net for the Panthers in the opening period.
Rudolph broke the tie when he pushed a shot past HPU's Chris Michener, who had entered the game in goal at intermission, in the 53rd minute. Brennan Farrell and Eric Sass received assists on the play.
The Phoenix tacked on an insurance goal in the 80th minute when Romano found the net off assists from Blake Wertz and Hank Miller.
Taylor Saxe made five saves en route to his fifth shutout of the year. Michener stopped two shots in one half of action for the Panthers.
Chris Archer led the Panthers with six shots offensively, including two on goal. Gareth McLelland and Kirk Rudder added two shots apiece.
High Point earned the No. 6 seed for the 2003 Big South Men's Soccer Championship and will face third-seeded Liberty on Thursday at 5:00 pm in a first-round match in Radford, Va.
