Box Score Liberty remained unbeaten in Big South Conference play with a 3-1 win over High Point Friday night in the Vines Center.
The Lady Flames improved to 11-9 (5-0 in Big South play) by a line score of 30-25, 29-31, 30-19, 30-16. HPU dropped to 5-9 (0-6), but certainly made the Lady Flames work for the victory.
Liberty recorded the first four points of the match and never trailed in the opening game as the Lady Flames opened up a lead as much as eight points at one time before the Panthers staged a late rally to keep things close.
High Point rallied to knot things at one game apiece with a 31-29 win in game two, but Liberty rallied to grab games three and four for the win.
Kamarsha Ryan led the Panthers with 11 kills and needs just three kills to reach 1,000 for her High Point career, while Heather Butt finished with a team-best 14 digs and 30 assists. Kim Anderson and Jenelle Stouffer finished with 13 and 10 digs, respectively. Sabrina Wahid tallied five total blocks.
Erin McKeown paced the Lady Flames with 13 kills while adding six digs and six blocks. Becky Rudnick followed with 12 kills, while Jennifer Belk led the team with 16 digs. Kristin Colson chipped in with a match-high 33 assists.
The Panthers stay in the Old Dominion for a 2:00 pm match Saturday at Radford's Dedmon Center against the homestanding Highlanders.
