Ken Keesee's pinch-hit two-run homer in the bottom of the 8th helped High Point post a 3-2 comeback win over Niagara on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Keesee's blast, the second for the Panthers this season, came off Niagara reliever Jeff Finnucane and scored pinch-runner Chris Vinar. Chris Chandler worked a scoreless 9th for his third save of the year.

High Point improves to 7-4, while Niagara drops to 0-5.

Kevin Burch (3-1) struck out eight Purple Eagles in eight innings of work to earn the victory.

The hard-luck losing pitcher was Tom Vasile, who fanned nine Panthers in six innings before handing the ball to the bullpen.

The Purple Eagles got on the board in the top of the 1st when Vince Ircadia led off with a single to center, advanced to third on a single by Tim Fitzgerald, and scored on a single by Miguel Iglesias.

High Point countered in the bottom of the inning when Michael Lowman led off with a single and scored on a double by Matt O'Neil.

Niagara added another run in the 3rd when Chris Cerchie scored on a Fitzgerald single.

High Point faces Albany on Monday at 2:30 pm at Alumni Field.
