Campbell held off High Point, 2-1, in men's soccer action Thursday on a chilly afternoon at Albion Millis Stadium.
The game, which was originally scheduled for Wednesday night in Buies Creek, was moved to High Point due to heavy rain Wednesday and a scheduling conflict. Campbell is hosting the Atlantic Sun women's soccer tournament, which began today.
The Camels (5-11) got on the board first with an own goal in the 11th minute. Campbell played the ball into the box, where it hit a High Point defender and rolled in to give the Camels a 1-0 lead which stood until after halftime.
Campbell made it 2-0 in the 71st minute when Greg Schwartzenberger found Archer Abblitt open on the right side of the box. Abblitt pushed the shot past HPU keeper Eric Lona.
The Panthers (4-13-1) would pull within 2-1 in the 77th minute on a nifty goal by Kenzo Tochiki, who took a pass from a streaking Gareth McLelland and beat Campbell goalie William Holland from close range.
While Campbell finishes its regular-season slate Saturday at Georgia State, High Point awaits its opponent in next week's Big South Championship, which begins Thursday, Nov. 14, in Rock Hill, S.C.
