Visiting Jacksonville State faced a 2-0 deficit on the road against High Point in a non-conference volleyball match Saturday, but the Gamecocks weren't fazed and staged a stirring comeback to shock the Panthers, 28-30, 22-30, 30-8, 30-18, 15-13.
Christina Cary led the way for the Gamecocks with 15 kills and 11 digs while Jennifer Brenneman provided 14 kills and 14 digs, and Allison Wright added a game-high 16 digs.
The Panthers (5-24) fell apart in Game 3 after taking the first two with strong play from Kimberly Wright (20 kills, 13 digs) and Kamarsha Ryan (16 kills, 14 digs). And once Jacksonville State got going, the Gamecocks (9-15) wouldn't be stopped. Meredith Duke set the tone with 44 assists and added 10 digs.
