Radford scored two goals in the first half and held on to defeat High Point, 2-1, in a Big South Conference men's soccer match Saturday afternoon at Albion Millis Stadium.
The Panthers fell to 4-5 on the season and 0-1 in the Big South while Radford improved to 3-6 on the year and 2-0 in the conference.
The Highlanders got on the board in the first half with an unassisted breakaway goal by junior Jon Fosu at the 23rd mark. Junior T.J. Rolfing added to the Highlander lead just eight minutes later with a header from sophomore Eric Sokolik that found the back of the net for a 2-0 lead at the half.
The Panthers got on the scoreboard in the second half at the 52:08 mark, as senior John Sitaridis scored his fourth goal of the season on a breakaway goal to get the team within one. Both teams had oppportunities to add to their total in the second half, but neither could take advantage.
Junior Eric Lona had three saves for the Panthers, while his counterpart sophomore Andrew Essey had three saves as well for the Highlanders. High Point outshot Radford 10-8 in the match, and had a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
