The NC State men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 contest against visiting High Point Wednesday afternoon at Method Road. The Panthers scored two first half goals for only its second win in 11 attempts versus the Pack.
High Point's John Sitaridis notched the first goal of the game in the 37th minute after he dribbled around at the top of the Pack's penalty box, and struck a shot into the top left corner of the net. Just four minutes later at the 40:36 mark, the Panther's Damon Ming used an assist from Barry Mitchell on a quck give and go to put High Point up 2-0 at the half.
NC State would score the only goal in the second half at the 67:54 mark. Senior Damon Butler's cross into the box found sophomore Isreal Mejia, who netted his first goal of the season. However after many attempts late in the game, including Matt Tabor hitting the crossbar with 18 minutes to play, the Pack could not net the equalizer. The Pack outshot High Point 12-11, and 7-2 in the second half. NC State keeper Mitchell Watson saved a penalty kick in the first half, then the Panthers missed another PK in the second half when the kick went over the crossbar.
